About

As a 6-year-old kid in suburban Seattle, I fantasized about moving to Tokyo to write video games for Nintendo. Probably pretty standard thinking for a 6 year old in the mid-80’s, especially as Japanese domination was everywhere in American pop-culture.

Somehow, after several twists of fate I ended up moving to Shanghai to pursue my entrepreneurial passion, and somehow end up a bit more “Chinese” every morning that I wake up here… That’s not a good thing or a bad thing. It’s just a different thing. Like so much of life here in China, it’s just a different way of looking at the same problem.

It’s quite an interesting business environment here. Prices are low. Exchange rates are favorable. Prices are reasonable. Exchange rates are manageable. The workforce is relatively skilled, especially the young people. The ideas and people from the developed west are greeted with open arms, as apposed to the NIH attitude that still dominates Japan.
