Sometimes we are not 100% sure what exactly we are supposed to do next. Maybe we’re thinking about who to date or who to marry. Maybe we’re thinking about our career or our business. Maybe we’re thinking about our friends or our family. Maybe we’re thinking about education or investment options.

There is nobody that knows YOU better than YOU know you. So based on that premise, there’s a site called “FutureMe.org” that allows you to create an email and send it to yourself at some date in the future.

So the next time you’re not sure what exactly to do. Just relax. No rush. Write down all of the pros and the cons about your decision. Or thoroughly describe the situation, including the assumptions you’ve made and describe what it is you need to know next, or what you’re unclear about.

Give yourself 1 month. 3 months. Or even a year. Then press send and breath a sigh of relief. You’ve started to analyze the process. You’ve documented it. Simply persist and greater happiness will follow.

Everything visible is empty.
The immaterial is material.

Robert Frost’s poem, often misremembered as “The Road Less Traveled” due to the last line…

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

Maybe an iPhone and a Mac Book Air already qualifies as a “Unified Messaging System”. Fax’s are obviously easily directed to your email Inbox, but there is still something missing.

Sadly, it seems that Google is probably the best positioned entity on the planet to provide “Unified Messaging”. Just plug Google Mail into the gaim/libpurple multiple instant message interface instead of gtalk, and then somehow force the Skype guys to jump on the bandwagon and you’re done with the desktop/web side. Just need to figure out a way to handle SMS and voice.

Maybe the next “Hotmail” is in here somewhere… That simple idea that’s sitting right under our nose. That way that will we can ever so slightly change the way people use computers, that could potentially be worth something.

Either the translator leaves the author in peace, as much as possible, and moves the reader towards him; or he leaves the reader in peace, as much as possible, and moves the author towards him. –Venuti, 1995: 19-20

“Domesticating translation” and “foreignizing translation” are the terms coined by L. Venuti (1995) to describe the two different translation strategies. The former refers to the translation strategy in which a transparent, fluent style is adopted in order to minimize the strangeness of the foreign text for target language readers, while the latter designates the type of translation in which a target text “deliberately breaks target conventions by retaining something of the foreigness of the original” –Shuttleworth &Cowie, 1997:59

There’s a great article that goes into very extensive detail on the subject called “To Foreignize or Domesticate“, but for me, the point is simply that it puts your mind at peace — there reason you can’t translate it is because there’s not a word for it, so relax, you’re chinese and english are both OK.

There’s also a great dictionary on the same site with all sorts of business related words that you should be aware of.
